North Florida School of Special Education offers students a safe and nurturing learning environment. Students are individually assessed to provide a unique education plan that meets his/her academic needs and sets realistic goals. Each student’s educational program is based on the child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and needs.
NFSSE curriculum includes:
- Direct Instruction Reading focusing on the five essential components of reading, with continuous performance assessment, daily practice in reading, writing, listening, and speaking and strategies applied in a variety of contexts.
- Math curriculum includes 2 phases. Math Concepts introduces concepts gradually and systematically. Touch Math provides a multi-sensory learning methodology that helps students understand math.
- Language Arts teaches handwriting, creative writing, grammar, dictionary skills and spelling.
- Teacher/Student Ratio – We adhere to a Teacher/Student ratio of 1:6.
