We have many exciting school events planned for the 2007-2008 school year. Many of the events are designed to celebrate the seasons. Other special events raise funds to enhance the programs and resources available for North Florida School’s students.
The 2006 Fall Festival was held October 27th. The students dress up as storybook characters. Parents and our older students man our Burger King Fishing Booth, Treasure Chest, Lolli-Pop Both, Ball Toss, Duck Pond, Cake Walk, Gold Fish Ping Pong Bowl Toss and the Barrels Train. There is food and fun for to be had by all.

In November each class makes a side dish for the School’s annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Students make placemats and table decorations too!

In December
2007 many of the classes participated in baking and craft projects.
Gingerbread Houses were baked, Christmas Trees were decorated, and
The 2008 year started off with a visit to North Florida School by a Jacksonville Symphony trio who performed several pieces and then provided a demonstration of each instrument.
With National Championship games to be played, North Florida School students and staff dressed to show their support of the Florida Gators!
In February
2007 we had a visit by Miss Carla and Miss Beth of Dr. Rick Stevenson’s
office for a great presentation on dental health and every student went home
that day with a new toothbrush, toothpaste and floss!
In March 2007 the GFWC Junior Women’s Club of Jacksonville hosted our all-school assembly with a terrific Birthday Party for Dr. Seuss!
In early March a truly unique puppet show visited NFS and stressed good nutrition.
The March Spring Fling is planned by the student-coaches of Jacksonville University for the enjoyment of North Florida School students.
The 5th Annual Bachelor/Bachelorette Charity Auction was a wonderful success. This silent and live auction benefits the students at North Florida School. This incredible event was voted “Best Looking Guests” by Jacksonville Magazine. During the 2007 Auction over 30 of Jacksonville’s most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes were auctioned off. Over $50,000 was raised!

North Florida School welcomed members of the Meninak Club to the Grand Opening of the Meninak Club School Store. Many thanks to the Meninak Club for funding this remodeling project and helping provide our Transition students with an in-house vocational skills project, Transition Program students will handle the inventory, ordering of merchandise, advertising of goods and sales.

In April 2007 the entire student body enjoyed a school field trip to a Sun’s baseball game.
The Transition Class raises the funds and plans the North Florida School Prom. The May 2007 Prom was held and hosted by the Embassy Suites Hotel! Over 30 students, alumni and guests danced the night away!

North Florida School families, students and staff participated in the RITA Foundation’s 5K Walk Run on May 12, 2007.
On May 24, 2007 North Florida School celebrated the achievements of students with the annual Honors and Graduation Ceremony. The entire student body attends the evening which includes performances by students as well as the graduation ceremony for our 2007 graduates, Jimmie Smith and Britney Watson.
