Extended Day Program

Extended Day Program

NFSSE’s Extended day program is a hit with our families!
The program is offered for both Upper and Lower School students and begins immediately when the school day ends. The balance between work and play is a huge draw for our students. “Our Extended Day program makes the school even better after hours,” says Manager Kiki Examond who has been leading the program for three years. “Whether it’s giving them a high five, sitting down to help them with their homework, or shooting basketballs with them, I’d do anything for our kids.
A major advantage of our program is its variety. Between Music Mondays and Workout Wednesdays, there’s something for every student with very little redundancy. Kiki and his team also stress helping each other out. “It’s really beneficial to our kids to have those social skills which not only builds comradery but also grows our community,” explains Examond. “Our Extended Day students have the advantage of having a lot of structure within a longer school day. It see it translating into the classroom everyday.”
Mentorship is also important and one example of that is Reading Buddies. The older kids read to the younger ones and encourage and engage with each other. “Whenever you see that level of growth from Elementary to Intermediate to Secondary, it is really encouraging because it lets us all know that what we’re doing here is working. It’s an active and positive experience,” adds Examond.
