Watch a recording of the September 2025 Assembly:
We celebrated our students with perfect attendance and September birthdays, as well as our Students & Employees of the Month. This month’s assembly began with a presentation of the Special Olympics Torch to cheer on Caleb before he runs in the Chicago Marathon! We also featured the ‘Supa Good School’ music video that kicks off our Giving Tree Fundraiser!

September Employees of the Month
Amy Hunt and Katie Mixon
If you asked most NFSSE students their favorite place on campus, most would say the gymnasium, the games, the dodgeball, the basketballs (who loves bounce to the beat?) , the exercise equipment, and we can’t forget the wind sprints! What we love most about the gymnasium are the 2 teachers who consistently plan the best activities. We love the way Coach Amy and Coach Katie show up each day and love each NFSSE student. They help each one become the best physical version of themselves! On August 26th when Dr. Raines came to PE Class, they were doing what they do best….. a fun activity to get students ready to start the day. What happened that morning was nothing short of a miracle. When Michael needed help to breathe, Coach Katie and Coach Amy were there. They remained calm and consistent. They came along side of Michael and each other and helped him breathe again. Because of their quick actions, Michael is doing ok and what a reunion it was when he came with his mom to visit last week! Katie and Amy, we can’t thank you enough for the way you handled a very scary and serious situation. Your quick thinking, your knowledge of CPR, but most importantly your love truly made a difference. Thank you for being a joy light on that day and every day. The gymnasium shines brightly because of you both!

Anna Galegor
Though Anna is new to North Florida School, she has fit into the Intermediate team as if she has been here for years. Anna demonstrates flexibility in her approach, readily offers support to others and applies her experience to strengthen the skills to those around her. Anna has the ability to meet students where they are and integrate them into learning, before they even realize what she has done. Spend 5 minutes around her and you will recognize her wicked sense of humor. It’s “kooky”!! Thank you Anna for fitting right in and helping to make Intermediate unstoppable!

Cara Bauman
Cara accepted the role as Barn Manager over the summer and has hit the ground running (or might we say, galloping 😊). She has not missed a step between scheduling staff, ordering food for all the animals, securing vet appointments, and first and foremost, ensuring safety at every level at the barn. Cara has done all this with grace, care and love – she is a joy light! She is not afraid to ask questions or roll up her sleeves and do the necessary barn work. Additionally, she worked with Angelicia and other barn staff to get our mini horses certified with Pet Partners to work at Nemours Children’s Hospital. We are so thankful that Cara accepted this position, and we’re excited to see how the barn transforms under her leadership.
Louis Ashley
Louis has embraced his role as a job coach with both passion and dedication. Thanks to his efforts, our Eagle Academy team has secured two new job sites. At each location, Louis works side by side the students, whether it’s teaching them how to bake muffins at Panera or showing them how to safely use lawn equipment, his hands-on approach and genuine mentorship have earned him great respect (not only with our students, but within our community). Thank you, Louis for connecting with each student and creating positive and encouraging work environment. You have already made a meaningful impact on our program, and you have done it with heart and ease!
