Parent Support Organization (PSO)
The parents and families of our students are integral to the success of North Florida School of Special Education. We believe in the power of a strong support system, and therefore encourage parents and families to be actively involved in their child’s school experience through the Parent Support Organization (PSO).
Mission Statement: The Parent Support Organization is designed for the purpose of supporting the families and students at NFSSE by fostering relationships among the school and families. This support is fulﬁlled by participation and involvement in social, school events and programs that generate resources and community for our school.
Any parent or guardian of a student at NFSSE is automatically a member of the Parent Support Organization. There are currently no fees or other requirements. Our PSO provides volunteer (and ﬁnancial support) to the students and staﬀ throughout the year according to their interests and schedules — from Grandparent’s Day, Field Day, Berry Good Farms Weekend Festival, and more.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to not only join the North Florida School of Special Education Facebook page, but also the “NFSSE-PSO Facebook Group.” Parents can receive regular updates about the school schedule and events. It is also a parent-only space where parents can ask questions and find answers from one another.
We meet the second Thursday of the month at 9:30AM throughout the school year. A representative from the administrative staﬀ of NFSSE will be present at the meetings as well as the PSO board members. We will discuss upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. Please check back for our upcoming meetings.
