Girl Scouts Bridge it Up!

Girl Scouts Bridge it Up!

On Tuesday evening, Girl Scout Troop 62015 had their end-of-year celebration and Bridging Up Ceremony. Bridging is a beloved Girl Scout tradition that honors girls’ achievements throughout the year and celebrates their “crossing the bridge” to the next Girl Scout level.

Before the ceremony began, the troop surprised their troop leader, Jenna Thompson with a gift: a planter filled with some of her favorite things related to camping, gardening and yoga. Girl Scouts, Kate and Bonnie led the troop in the Girl Scout Promise, and then Girl Scouts, Lily, Maxine and Hadleigh led the troop in the Girl Scout Law. Tote bags were distributed to each girl, which included photos from their recent camping trip, token gifts and badges that the girls earned. Our two Daisies crossed over the bridge and will become Brownies next year. Our three Brownies bridged up to Junior level, two of our Cadettes bridged up to Senior level and two of our Seniors bridged up and will become Ambassadors.

“The one word that comes to mind when I think about this group is MAGIC,” says Stacy Santiago, a parent assistant. “Seeing girls of varying abilities and ages join together in sisterhood all year long has been such a blessing!”

One of the fundamental tenets of Girl Scouts is that it builds girls of courage, confidence and character – all skills that can benefit a girl as she grows into adulthood by giving her a foundation for leadership. Girls are faced with a lot of pitfalls on this journey and we shouldn’t understate how important it is for them to face the world with a belief in their own abilities, without fear of limitations. Ms. Jenna has had such a profound impact on ALL of our girls! Thanks to her leadership, Girl Scout Troop 62015 thrived this year! We are so excited to continue crossing those bridges of growth, courage and connection next school year!
