Introducing the Eagle Card

Introducing the Eagle Card

Making purchases at any one of our cafes or stores just got easier with the all-new Eagle card.
Think of it as a gift card or debit card in which you can reload funds. The card was introduced to staff on September 7, and so far it has been a hit.  It works the same way as any gift card outside of school  like the ones you’d purchase at Target or Starbucks.
What’s the incentive of using the Eagle card? “You can use it for one stop shopping,” says Cafe Manager Annette Himmelreich  who is also a job coach to dozens of secondary, transition and postgrad students. “Our goal is to encourage independent use of the card among our students. The cafe belongs to them. We’re setting them up for real-life point of sale transactions, and they’re doing it. I’ve got one student who always says’ I did it’ and we’re trying to empower our students to use the card for all their transactions.”
Himmelreich says it’s a great way for families to use it at our all new breakfast cafe which is designed for our older students and opens in early October from 8:15 to 8:45. “The older kids will be able to pick up breakfast and hang out before going to their classes,” adds Himmelreich.
Now the card is available for purchase for everyone at the BGF Cafe counter or our upper or lower school front desks. You can use it to buy food or drinks in the cafe, BGF produce at the front desk, food from grab n’ go, cookies and casseroles, and Barkin’ Biscuits. It’ll also be handy to use for any purchases inside the Unique Boutique.
The best part is that you don’t have to only use them for yourself. Purchase the cards as gifts as an option for birthdays. holidays or any other occasion that inspires gift giving!
